Looking Back, Riding Forward: A Year of Community, Adventure & Second-Hand Bikes

As 2025 comes to a close at Simons Bike Shop, it’s a moment to celebrate muddy trails, fresh starts, and the friendly faces that make our corner of the cycling community special. This year, our mission, to make mountain biking affordable, approachable, and just plain fun, has meant more than ever. From first-timers finding their balance to seasoned riders rediscovering their spark, we’ve seen how two wheels can bring people together, no matter the weather or the time of year.

A Year in the Saddle: Our Biggest Highlights

Reflecting on the past twelve months, it’s the small victories and big adventures that stand out. In 2025, our family-run shop in the UK saw everyone from excited kids with their first ‘grown up’ bikes to parents jumping back into the sport after years away. Local trails have echoed with laughter, especially on those frosty winter mornings and sun-drenched summer afternoons.

Through it all, our collection of expertly safety-checked, pre-loved mountain bikes has found new homes, and new stories, across the community. There’s unbeatable joy in seeing a bike become someone’s trusted adventure partner, at a price that keeps the spirit of mountain biking open to all.

Community at the Heart of Everything

Our mission has always been about more than just bikes. It’s about riding with confidence, meeting new friends, and finding adventure wherever the path leads. We’ve loved welcoming everyone through the shop door for a chat or some advice, whether about the perfect starter bike, an upgrade for the next challenge, or a quick pre-ride safety check courtesy of our in-house workshop.

We’ve hosted try-the-bikes days, shared the thrill of test rides (mud-splattered smiles included), and listened to the stories of riders old and new. Special mention for all the parents cheering on their kids and everyone getting back in the saddle after a long break, you’re a huge part of why the Simons Bike Shop community is so vibrant.

Adventures, Big and Small

One thing that never gets old? Hearing about where our bikes end up! From the Lake District’s legendary trails to local woodland paths, we’ve seen photos, heard stories, and shared in the excitement of new milestones. The best bit is knowing every bike that leaves our shop comes with a safety check by our expert team, peace of mind for every adventure, from snowy Christmas mornings to spur-of-the-moment summer escapades.

This year, we also saw our first official “try the bikes” day, giving more folks a chance to experience what makes our bikes special, and to see how fun and accessible mountain biking can be.

Festive Fun on Two Wheels

December brought a burst of festive energy, with the shop decked out in tinsel, mince pies always on standby, and plenty of talk about the best ways to gift-wrap a mountain bike! We loved chatting with customers about finding the perfect second-hand bike for Christmas, always freshly serviced and ready for its big debut. There’s a unique joy in seeing a pre-loved bike become someone’s favourite festive surprise.

A Word from Simon

I started Simons Bike Shop because I wanted to share the joy and freedom of biking that shaped my own life, growing up in the Lake District. Every time someone finds their dream bike or takes their first ride after years away, it’s a reminder of why this place matters, not just for me, but for the wider family of riders we’ve built together. I’m genuinely grateful for every friendly chat, return visit, and bit of feedback, thank you for making 2025 a year to remember.

Rolling into 2026: What’s Next?

If there’s one thing this year has shown, it’s that community spirit and a sense of adventure never get old. As we ride into 2026, we’re more excited than ever to welcome new faces, help you find your perfect fit, and keep your current steed in tip-top shape with our reliable workshop services. Whether you’re aiming to conquer more trails, introduce a friend to the magic of mountain biking, or simply want somewhere friendly to talk bikes over a cuppa, our door is always open.

So here’s to you, the riders, families, and friends who’ve supported us this year. May the New Year bring smooth trails, big smiles, and plenty of muddy adventures.

Wishing you a safe, adventurous, and joy-filled 2026 from all at Simons Bike Shop.
